MUSICIANS;
We are anouncing from this day on 9/8/2008,bands will be paid $50 (plus/minus a few dollars)for Monthly Saturday Jamborees that they perform at. MUSICIANS; We are still paying bands that perform at our festivals.As most of you know by now,we had our first admission fee at our Fall festival,$5 a person per day $10 for the whole festival,children 16 & under & musicians & their spouses free. It was encouraging to sell many $10 admissions & the total paid to each band (19 bands)was $68 wich is finally getting to an amount that folks can't refuse,that is what we have been striving for. Can't promise you that it will get much higher but if we have more attendance which we are inclined to believe as the fall festival showed a increase in fans, the pay will increase with to profits, which include profits on hats & shirts, food & pop, raffles & now a admission fee. Summing it up; The nature of our Bluegrass/Oldtime music is great music with little or no pay most times.The bands with total comitment can grind it out & do well. Our festival is mostly with folks with day jobs & we hope the little $ that we can scrape up can at least get you here & back home again. |

From: Campbell Mercer Dear Friends, Hot off the Press: RFD-TV in Nashville, Tennessee and Cumberland Highlander Productions announced on Friday that Kentucky's Cumberland Highlanders Show is moving to RFD-TV's prime time Saturday music block beginning January 17, 2009. Tune in at 9:30 PM Eastern Time Saturday nights to view the greatest bands in traditional bluegrass and mountain music on Channel 345 on Direct TV, Channel 231 on Dish Network, and on many cable packages including Comcast. This moves the Cumberland Highlanders Show into one of the best time slots to transport the music of America's upland south and the history and scenery of Bill Monroe's home place and home state of Kentucky into the almost 40 million homes that can receive RFD-TV. The Cumberland Highlanders feature many of Bill Monroe's veteran Blue Grass Boys including Wayne Lewis, along with Doc Mercer, Joe Isaacs, Stacy York and many legendary guests, including Dr. Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys & Ronnie Reno, all performing a few yards from the birthplace of the Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe. Let RFD-TV know that you appreciate their latest support of American bluegrass music. That would be a great way to celebrate the Cumberland Highlanders' 13th year of uninterrupted programming! Did you know that the Cumberland Highlanders Show started on July 16, 1996 on Doc and Julie Mercer's farm in London, Kentucky, was first broadcast on local TV station WOBZ, then on CBS affiliate WYMT, then added to the Outdoor Channel line up, and then picked up by RFD-TV in December of 2002 ? Did you also know that the Cumberland Highlanders' Show has never missed a week of broadcasting and is now in its 383rd episode ? Whew! It's all true! Thank you for letting the Cumberland Highlanders into your homes every week, cheerily accepting our emails, and for patiently and passionately showing your support to RFD-TV and to us for this valuable American family programming. You and your families are all in our prayers. Campbell "Doc" Mercer and all of us at Cumberland Highlander Productions Next Email : · Wrap Up of the 2008 Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Celebration · Information on the 2009 Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Celebration · Status of Jerusalem Ridge Magazine. |
