SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program), Meals on Wheels,

in fourteen others.  First Step offers many services, some of which are:

Offers various developmental services for children from birth to 3

through the First Steps program.  Includes evaluations, speech

therapy, developmental therapy and service coordination in the

home or other community settings. Works with Daviess-Martin

County Special Education Cooperative, parents, professionals, and

community organizations to support children with special

educational needs.  The half-day preschool program is for special

needs children ages 3, 4, and 5 years old.  The preschool maintains

a 1 to 4 adult to student ratio. Licensed teachers provide individual

and group activities to meet the written, individual goals of each child. 

Support services such as speech, occupational, or physical therapy

may be provided on an as needed basis by professional therapists.

Evaluations and services are confidential and provided at no

charge to families.

established guidelines.  Half day session is available Monday-Thursday. 

Lunch and snack is served to the half day session.  Full day session is

Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Breakfast, lunch and snack are

served to the full day session.  Also services available for prenatal

mothers and infants up to 3 years of age through the Early Head

to address spiritual needs and concerns.  Volunteers offer support as

“good neighbors” who are willing to sit with someone, run errands,
