Well, My name is John and I am a graphic artist and illustrator (among other things.) I am presently a resident of beautiful Bloomington, Indiana (home of the Giant Monster Fox Squirrels) where I keep house with three insane cats (come see the pretty pictures!)
The BIG NEWS right now is that after a lifetime of hard-core Anglophilia I have finally decided, come hell or high water, that I'm emmigrating to England. As part of this project I am selling off large parts of my library and other collections on eBay. You can look up my auctions under julianus_93.
Professionally, I do hand-rendering, computer graphics, and layout, samples of which you can see on these pages. Please feel free to check out my Portfolio and Resume for more examples of my work and publication credits. Commissions are gleefully accepted, so send me an email.
And now that that's out of the way, we can get on to the fun-filled pursuit of detailing my every idiosyncracy and pass-time.

I am a Pagan and Thelemite, a practitioner of the religion of Thelema as developed by Aleister Crowley (and yes, I do consider it a Religion, not a "philosophy" or (ugh...!) "spirituality.") I am an Initiate of Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.), a Thelemic Magical Order with branches worldwide. Within this Order I was been a longtime member of IAO-Abraxas Oasis, where I edited that infamous newsletter, The Herald-Tepaphone. A collection of the entire first three years of that distinguished journal is still available through me. In addition I have served as resident book reviewer for Agape, the US OTO national newsletter and, most notably, executed original artwork for the new series of the Equinox (volume IV) available from Samuel Weiser. Recently my work has focussed one the relationship between the Mysteries of O.T.O. and ancient Indo-European myth and I gave a presentation on this topic at the 2003 Nation Conference. I am presently working to establish a new local body of O.T.O. here in southern Indiana. (And lest you think all this is too serious, please consult my Thelemite Test for a poke in the ribs.)
I also have certain affinities for the "Traditionalist" school of Rene Guenon, Julius Evola, Frithjof Schuon, et. al. They hold that all "authentic" religions descend from a single "Primordial Tradition." Although I think they were seriously in error as just what this "Primordial Tradition" really is, and miss the point by concentrating on doctrine as opposed to practice, they nevertheless express one of the few serious critiques of modern society.
My spiritual life revolves around the practice of Magick, which I think of as equal parts practice, scholarship and silliness. I like to keep myself amused by playing around with Qabalah. I have worked out Qabalistic correspondences for the horrors of H.P. Lovecraft and certain other elements in Popular Culture. I also have a page devoted to various Magical Games which I hope will keep you amused.
I have engaged in an extensive critical analysis of the works of British occult writer (and O.T.O. pretender) Kenneth Grant. See my guide to his published work in Typhonian Tomes. And finally, if, for some strange reason, you value my opinions, I have plethora of other book reviews at Bkwyrm.net which is now back online.

I have no faith or regard for currently popular political forms. I regard almost all modern political movements, "Right-wing," "Left-wing," "Liberal," and "Conservative" alike, as equally useless. The only controversies I can see among them are slight differences as to how to run an industrial society which is inherently doomed anyway. You have go way out of the mainstream before you come to any real alternatives.
Personally, I am a Monarchist. While most contemporary Monarchists are of the "Constitutional" persuasion, I am in favour of Feudalism. This is because I consider it to be the last really sustainable system, in both social and environmental terms that we in the West ever had. My conviction is that our current Industrialized/Centralized culture is destined for collapse , and that whatever survives will eventually evolve a more Pagan, Feudal and "Traditional" culture (in the sense anthropologists use the term.)
When the collapse does come, I intend to have a rural retreat ready so I can observe the fun from a safe distance. If you have similar sentiments and ambitions, please do contact me.
