ME & MY CATS
Seeing as cats are more interesting to look at than people,
we will begin with my three insane kitties. Here we see them lounging on the bed
in company with my stuffed animals. From left to right (in order of seniority)
we have Booby Kitty, Little Kitty, and Poly Kitty. It was my ex who came up with
their names, so I bear no responsibility there! As you can probably guess, I am most
attached to these three and they are equally attached to me, but then all cats seem
to love me. Why this should be I know not.
Here I am holding Booby Kitty, also know as Boobies or even Boobs.
He is the oldest of the cats and is most devoted to me, liking nothing better than
to curl up on my stomach and purr. He also takes up his station on my lap while
I work at the computer. Right now, for example. He is a shy and sensitive soul,
and visitors or thunderstorms will cause him to seek sanctuary under the bed.
Contrary to appearances, he is not related to Poly, my other orange tabby.
Here we have Boobies playing with Little Kitty, the middle child of my feline
family. Little Kitty is part Siamese and is generally considered the cutest of the
bunch, even if he does walk more like a squirrel than a cat. He is friendly and
outgoing and enjoys climbing on bookshelves or walking along the railing of the upstars
landing. His other great love is tearing up cardboard
boxes, so I leave out a designated box he can destroy lest he turn his attention
to my library.
Now we see Poly hanging out with Little Kitty. While Poly is the baby in the
family, having just turned two, he is also the largest of the three by far. He was just a
tiny kitten when we got him, and I proposed naming him Itty Bitty Kitty as a natural progression
after Little Kitty. My ex would have none of that, and so we named him Poly (rhymes with 'holy')
after an exceptionally nice bookstore cat we knew in Evanston, Illinois. Probably just
as well as things turned out. Thanks to my tireless work, Poly has now come to crave
human affection, whereas before all he cared about was stealing Q-tips. He and Little
Kitty are very close and spend much time playing and grooming with each other.
Here is a rare instance of all three sitting down to a nice family dinner. Usually
they take turns.
By the way, if you're wondering, I'm taking the cats with me to England. Thankfully
the UK now recognises US vaccinations so they won't have to be in quarantine for six months.
The Gods know they'll be upset enough after the plane trip across the Atlantic.
This is me at the Indianapolis Zoo. Now you know how tall I am in horse measurements.
If you happen to know where I can get another Nepalese hat I'd appreciate an email.
