History
In the late 1700's a large portion
of our surrounding area was granted to John Pleasant Burton for his
efforts during the Revolutionary War. This land was eventually
divided among his descendants, one being Ransom Burton. In
1856 Ransom Burton built the 2 story red brick house that we now call
Red Brick Farm. In 1985 Mike and Carol Edwards purchased this home
on 2 1/2 acres. This included a small barn behind the house and the
cooling house out front. Then in December 1998 the opportunity
arose to purchase an additional 8 acres which included the original hand
hewn, peg and timber barn. There were some serious structural
problems with the barn but it was finally determined that it could be
saved. Local Amish carpenters
set to work in the dead of winter to restore this historical structure.
Slabs of ice and intense cold did not deter our workers and
as spring started showing signs of arrival our barn saw
completion.
