Welcome to Oz!
Stories of Shamanism and Recovery

This site contains anonymous stories of shamanic healings for the Alquis
(who are people recovering from alcoholism and addictions), and the healing
techniques used by the wizard (one of the Alquis' shamanic practitioners).

You can read healing stories about modern shamanism (an extension of core shamanism)
and recovery from alcoholism and addictions. The stories are set in the magical land of Oz
to preserve the anonymity of those people that the shamanic practitioner ("the wizard") has
been permitted to help. This allows you to share the experience, strength and hope of many
people who have found relief from this disease. You can read how shamanism, a spiritual
but not a religious practice, has helped them to get and stay sober.

A large part, but not all, of their recovery is due to participating in Twelve Step groups such
as Alcoholics Anonymous ("The Fellowship of People Learning How to Become Human").
But for people who are having trouble getting sober, or people who have been sober a long
time yet are still miserable, shamanism can directly find and address the problems that caused
them to drink or use or despair. Experience working with hundreds of people shows this:

There is a cause for every addiction. It lies in our past
in most casesand something can be done about it.

Finding a Shamanic Practitioner

If, after reading some of these stories (and more are being added regularly by the wizard),
you would like to contact a shamanic practitioner, this web site will help you find one:

Shamanic practitioners trained by Sandra Ingerman

All of these people have been trained by Sandra Ingerman, the woman responsible for
popularizing the healing technique called soul retrieval that complements modern medicine.

They may charge for their services.

Finding a Shamanic Practitioner
Who Has Experience Working with People in Recovery

While all of the shamanic practitioners listed above have been trained in very powerful
healing techniques, not all have experience working with alcoholics and addicts. The
directions that a healing may take, and some of the variations that a practitioner uses
will differ after the shamanic practitioner works with many people in recovery.

Some of the shamanic practitioners who have this experience have agreed to be listed here.

This article by Myron Eshowsky shows the scope of shamanic healing, including
recovery from alcoholism. However, in the wizard's experience, there has been no
crisis after a shamanic healing as the article describes. Instead, there have been
profound feelings of relief and freedom, and a deep and intuitive grasp of sobriety.

Finding the Wizard

If you want to contact the author of these stories for a personal healing, send him an email, rewriting

wakinyan at kiva dot net

as an email address. He will reply, but it may take him a few days. Healings for people in recovery
are performed at no charge. The charge for all others is always modest, as he has a good full-time job.

You may reproduce it, distribute it, give it to others, even sell it, as long as you acknowledge its

the author, since the wizard is also in recovery, and by the Twelfth Tradition of his Fellowship,
has chosen remain anonymous.
