Yard Sale Benefits United Way

The White River Central Labor Council hosted its 10th annual Yard Sale on August 25 to benefit the 2007-2008 annual campaign for United Way of Monroe County. Again this year the Central Charity Challenge IU MBA group worked tirelessly, moving all the items from the United Way basement to inside the Bloomington Convention Center, where the sale was relocated due to rain—what a group! Another group of IU Students from the Office of Orientation Programs were very helpful in finishing setting up the items for display. “We literally couldn’t do it all without these volunteers,” said Liz Feitl, AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison. Along with regular sale patrons, the sale benefited 12 of United Way agency’s families who presented their free shopping passes during the last hour of the sale.
